“ASP Baton and OC Spray Certification” – (8) Eight hour block of instruction
In this course of instruction the student will learn the following:
- ASP Baton/OC Spray – Students will learn the proper techniques and tactics to utilize when deploying either the ASP expandable baton and OC (oleoresin capsicum) spray. Participants will be instructed in the legal aspects of deploying these tools as well as the liability concerns. Those who successfully complete the class will be certified in their use for a two year period.
- Certification valid for two (2) years
- Use of Force – Students will be taught the proper levels of force to deploy when encountering situations where they are defending themselves or others. Officers will become thoroughly familiar with a Use of Force model based on those used by many area police jurisdictions. Attendees will learn how their actions may be later questioned and viewed during civil proceedings.
- Available for Purchase – Students will be able to purchase an ASP Baton and OC Spray as well as duty belt carriers for each while attending the class
